I wanted to let people know that I have been using Logmein's Hamachi VPN software to allow me to allow my parents computers to allow backups to my Windows Home Server. So far it has been one year and I only have had to fix two minor problems.
Best of all it is free and works with their free remote control software.

Basically I installed it on my WHS and the remote computers - it acts like another network segment.
