Meta Manager

27 April 2011 - 02:56 AM

Ok so now that I'm getting ready to officially start using WHS 2011 as my main media server, I was wondering if i should stick with my old method of meta data management or go with something different.

I have been using Media Browser + Meta <Browser> for almost 2 years now and have been happy using it.

But with the new My Movies which supports TV Shows, I was wondering if I should switch to that!

So my questions are as follows:
1-What are the benefits of using My Movies over Meta <Browser>?
2-Does My Movies work with Media Browser? If not does the generic Media Center provide the close to the same experience e.g. (recently added, watched,... etc)
3-Several HTPCs will be accessing the Meta Data will it be faster on My Movies vs Media Browser?

Thanks in advance for the help

This is the MB after placing the CPU and the fan

The case I bought a year or so ago I think I've had it for a while and decided I'd use it for my WHS build

This was a lol moment for me, I was laughing at seeing this tiny thing in this huge case. Cause I'm so used to putting itx boards in itx or mATX cases this was hilarious.

Moving on you can probably see the fan on the Icydock box in the case my ultimate goal is to have a drives in total and since the case only supports 5 internal 3.5 bays i bought the Icydock bay from a friend, only to realize that I can't find my freakin' Raid card! guess I'm gona have to go get one.

So for now this is what the build looks like till I get a Raid card. So now I'm gonna' go ahead and install WHS and then add the other drives when I get my Reaid card

New WHS

Hey guys long time listener of the podcast and follower of the forums.

So I have a decision to make, I'm making a V1 box, I currently have 2 cpus available for me to use for the build a Core i3 540 and a Core i7 860, the use for the server will be for general use of the server (back-ups, storage, etc..), but I will also want it to do real time transcoding of my media to my portable devices. the reason I'm asking is I don't know if the i3 can cut it!

I know that the i3 is slower when transcoding and am already leaning towards the i7 but I would really like to know if the i3 can do the transcoding in real time and I would not notice the difference. cause if the i3 can do it I can save the i7 for a different build.

Thanks
