Just a quick note, the VAIL development team have updated the product requirements to accept this processor, so in the final version of the product, it will run without the config install hack without issues.
And although I can't talk about using 25 machines on a single server (which to be frank sounds like it would be a job for a full rack mount server) this microserver does work really well within my home, streaming media and copying files around the place. It stopped the stuttering issues I was having with the previous 1.6gb atom server when running VAIL, so I wouldn't have any concerns about recommending it as a HOME server.

The HP Microserver does clearly state that isn't designed for up to 10 users, so do have a read though the product description.

Oh and one last note, this system works surprisingly well with 1gb, it's a beaut with the 4gb it's been upgraded to.

I though you might be interested to learn I managed to get the microsoft development team to lower the requirements to access this AMD 1.3ghz processor in the final version of VAIL, something that should show up if they release another build. For now you need to use the config file to override the hardware check.

In Topic: Offsite Online Backups?

I really like dropbox which I use for syncing frequently used files (using a free account), the client works faultlessly on the WHS but you have to use a single folder which makes it less that ideal for the WHS.

If you could select folders outside their structure to sync and which folders to sync back to which pcs, then this would be idea (apart from being a bit pricey at $99 for 50gb per year).

I'm also trying keepvault on the WHS, but their app lacks the polish I would prefer. Still it is cheap (with the 10% discount trick). Probably worth it for offsite backup peace of mind.

Hopefully in a years time this market will have developed further, with some better software and cheaper storage prices.
