Help main sys drive failing

23 November 2010 - 01:52 AM

I've got an EX495 with 4 WD 2TB green drives with about 5TB's of data across all the drives and I've lost connectivity to my server. Now the drive seems ok, I removed it and was able read the second partition by using a dock outside the system. and as I still had the 1.5TB that shipped with the EX495 I inserted that one and the machine works well with it.

I've tried to restore the failing drive and it keep failing every single time. my question is, since the second partition with all the data is in tact is there any way to wipe the first partition and reinstall the OS in some other way? I don't think all my data was balanced :(

isn't disk balancing supposed to even out the data across all drives?

I moved a bunch of stuff over to my second drive which is now red, some spilled over to the first and I purchased 2 more drives over the weekend (newegg deal was awesome) and added them but they remain unused.

am I missing something? I want balance :D
