Let's see with a Highpoint 2720 and the bios mod you can do the following
4-3TB drives
2 2.5 1TB below the 5.25 drive connects to 2720
a 6 in 1 5.25 drive convertor with 6 1TB wd blues connects to s720
a Patriot Supersonic 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model PEF64GSUSB in the USB Slot Internal
6 Patriot Supersonic Magnum 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model PEF128GSMNUSB
a Drobo B800fs with 8 3TB Drive (21.82 TB in this alone) on the esata port
And lastly a DYI based on this http://kom.aau.dk/~p...Upon/HD-on-PCI/ with another 1TB 2.5 drive connects to the ODD sata port
13 TB inside the case
almost 832GB in flashSSD
and 21.82 TB in the Drobo
Almost 38TB raw from a 130 dollar box not bad

Do you have a link for ISCSI download?

I have a write on the openfiler system on the link below
http://y-wing.net:80...penfilerwhs.pdf
you can download the distro from openfiler.com and included in my article is a link to this http://forums.openfi...pic.php?id=2676 which is the write on getting it to boot via USB thumb drive, not neccesary but i prefer so that all of my disk are just for storage and presentation.

Edit with the new distro's you will need a 16GB drive on the older you can use an 8 or 4GB flashdrive

#31086 Will an Atom do the job?

Posted by yodafett on 04 November 2011 - 03:22 PM

It would be ok for your requirments but would not give you much room for growth (Granted most of the WHS you see from mfg are an atom).  I have both a D525 and an I3 2100 and while the D525 was great for the basic home server stuff the small price increase for an I3 would be recommended.   If you were wanting to stay in an ITX format a intex board runs 76 while a gigabyte runs 99 for the D525.   An Gigabyte board and I3 would run you 230.  While it is a 100 more you will get alot more out of the I3,  I run an SQL server, Sharepoint, Media Server, WHS and a VM all on my i3 with 8GB of ram and it still has horsepower to spare.

#30136 WHS 2011 & iPad / iPhone

It seems to work natively for me but i recommend you get file browser for the ipad as you can use it to open the files on the ipad as neccesary.   Also would suggest QuickOffice pro for office docs.
