I have 3 iPhones and 3 iPads, but am loving win 8, as well as using a win 7 phone. I am ready for 2 phone upgrades, and one iPad is getting tired. If apple changes the dock connector this year, and there is a decent win8 tablet at a decent price (500 or below), im back to all windows equipment! It's a no brainer. As much fun as I have had with the iOS devices, it will be great to have congruency between home, mobile, and tablets.

I am certainly going to look at them seriously, particularly the Surface. Unless someone comes out with something a lot better than the Surface, it looks to be the one to beat, IMHO.

Well I voted yes but I have not figured out if I want RT or x86. I really want to see Microsoft's pricing on the RT side.

I'm thinking maybe a x86 Surface for me and an RT version for my wife, simply because she would like the simplified interface, but it may end up being 2 x86s in order to let her run a couple of programs I want to give her.

Is pricing going to change people's mind? If they don't come out to be as cheap as the rumors are saying then what?

I'm really interested, but it will be up to pricing on the PRO version.

If Microsoft is smart, they will take a hit on the tablet for a year to fill up the distribution channels. At the same price there is no incentive to switch from another platform. The economy is still too bad for people to start dropping $6-800 on an unproven platform.

Just my .02 which is about all I have left when Washington get finished with me.

Price has everything to do with it. If it's too expensive then I won't buy it for the same reason I refuse to buy an ipad.
The RT Surface would need to be at $199 or less for me to even consider it.

When the Surface was introduced I was certain I wanted an RT and a Pro but now.......................

The CEO really likes her iPad and there's no way she will switch to an RT. If the iPad breaks we'll HAVE to get a new one.

The machines that are starting to come out by other vendors are looking pretty interesting so I think there is going to be more to choose from besides the Surface Pro but I know now that I want a 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge, 3G or 4G, and a long life Battery (and Hyper-V) -- till then I still have my laptop that I'd upgraded with a SSD which I'm liking very much so there's no rush.

You guys ever hear of the Touchpad? I want MS to do well with the Surface if for no other reason than the competition will be good for the consumer. But I'm not willing to put my money up until it's proven it's worth in the tablet arena.

As stated on byob im buy both a surface rt and an x86. Price really doesn't matter to me, anything under $900 for the surface rt. You know competitive with the ipad? Most of you are high as a kite on what the the price is going to be. Under $499, only cheap crap like the low android tabs no one bought. Only way I can see a sub $299 tablet is a 7" version. $199 smarteparts? Really?
As for an x86 not sure who I'll go with Lenovo looks pretty strong, like to see what asus and Visio put out, if at all. Still on the fence if this can replace a laptop for me.

I can see $199 for the RT, but it would be a below-cost promotion by MS to buy market share. They've done it before with the Xbox. I also think MS might do it to put pressure on OEMs to up their games.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.
