I created an account so that my daughter could access my shared WHS 2011 folders via the internet. She lives a couple thousand miles from me. She wanted to download a large video to her Win 7 computer. She started the download and later got a message that she was logged of after 30 minutes of inactivity. Is that a setting in my WHS 2011 or her Win 7? What the work around?

The files are still being downloaded. If you log back in you will see the progression of the same file being downloaded.

As long as her computer does not go to sleep and shuts off the NIC.

I'll am just about 99% sure the download never stopped. What is happening is the server is logging her off the desktop/web interface after 30 minutes but not breaking the connection.

I've been downloading large files like this for 3-4 years now and I know the screen warning but I never had to re-start the download.

Actually, finished......this week. 4TB over a VPN is not an easy thing. The easiest thing to do was map drives to the other machine and use TerraCopy for the fastes results. WHS is somewhat restricitve in the number of files you can download at any one time, size doesn't matter, just the number.

May have to write my first article for Dave about this.

Sounds like a plan. Not everyone gets to experience mass file copying over long-haul distances, across oceans, time zones, and different internet jurisdictions.

Now, the real question: would it have been faster (and maybe cheaper) to simply ship a hard drive or 2 to Korea?
