I am interested in what the users are comfortable with and would like to see from developers.
A packaged add-in is nice as long as it works and a step-by-step guide leaves a decent amount of room for human error along the way.
Delivery of Add-In Functionality... What do you prefer?

Help me out here. Are you talking about the install or after the add-in is installed and a wizard like walk through to setup the options?

One of my pet hates is software which does not give you the option to install in a specific location.
Otherwise, the setup should simply expose the installer to the options available, the caveat being that those options should be thoroughly explained, eg.
on means this will happen
off means this will happen
Stuff like disabling "xyz" (default) means "XYZ" will not be available is useless if people have no idea what XYZ does.
This is becoming more of a problem as marketing jargon is used to denote common features. Mobo manufacturers are probably the most at fault here, but routers makers are fast catching up.

Definitely both. Like RennyP says, an app should not dictate where it gets installed. This is particularly a problem for people who use SSDs for their C: drive (where most apps install by default). It's criminal for an app to insist on using up precious SSD space. On the other hand, many of the parameter defaults are probably fine, so I don't want to have to set each of them.
If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.
