You are a lucky one. For me the success rate has been 50/50 on a good day.

Really. You're the first I've heard that says they've had issues. Interesting.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Maybe that's why I've never had issues: I figured from the get-go that it was designed only for MS ISOs so I never tried it on others.

Like someone mentioned, create, or at least try to create, a VM with the image and if the install fails, it is the image.

Well, there it is. No what? MVPs, what do think are the issues around making a copy of the ISO available to him (no key of course, just the bare ISO)?

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Don't need an MVP for that. Anyone with a server could create a custom share, place a copy of the iso image in there and let the person download it.

I realize it`s a simply thing technically; I was really asking for any insights the MVPs might have as to the legality.

I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV, but giving someone access to what is/was a free trial download should be okay.

This is precisely my concern.

I lean that way too.

I am being taken care of. Thanks for asking.

I really want to thank everyone in this thread that helped me out. Trouble shooting is so much easier when you can bounce ideas off of someone.

Win7 .iso files can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Distributor "DigitalRiver" (the source). No need to do anything stupid like try to download/use an illegal torrent.
The unmodified .iso files can be freely distributed since they allow for a 30-day trial. It's the license keys you are forbidden from sharing since it's the license that is bought/sold, not the .iso/content.
It is the end user's responsibility for ensuring the correct license is used to activate each target machine and the OS-installers (you) are liable for any damages to Microsoft if the inappropriate license is used.
Links are here: http://www.wincert.n...ws-7-sp1-disks/

You should always confirm the SHA-1 hash of the download with the TechNet download page (Windows Live login required). https://technet.micr...ds/default.aspx

HP EX490 (E5200 CPU & 4GB RAM upgrades). DriverPacks.net Administrator and Team Lead. Some heroes don't wear capes, they wear Kevlar!
Stand-Alone Driver Disk (SAD2) update utility for DriverPacks.net (installs drivers automatically on all versions of Windows from 2000 to 2012).
