Need some help not sure what is wrong with my RAID card. Runing an ASUS KGPE-D16 SSI EEB 3.61 Server Motherboard and have a HighPoint RocketRAID 2680 SGL RAID card when the system boots up at the BIOS level it sees none of the dirves connected to the RAID card via backplane of the chassie. The chassie is a NORCO RPC-4020. The drives attached to the motherboad that run to the backplane work just fine. totally lost on what to do. I have updated the firmware to 1.1 and still nothing.

Is it possible that you sourced the wrong cables by mistake - as was done here ?

Also, this may be a long shot but I know I got a "scare" when I setup my 2720/RAID5 array with brand new drives.
None of the new drives were displayed on BIOS bootup - only a couple older/used ones destined for a RAID1 array.

I pulled my hair our checking/swapping cables to no avail - finally just let the system boot, installed the Windows drivers and voila, the drives were all there.

It seemed to me that brand new drives were not being displayed on the drive listing for whatever reason - just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.

the cables i bought are NORCO C-SFF8087-4S Discrete to SFF-8087 (Reverse breakout) they were listed on another build simular to what i was doing so i think they should work but maybe I honestly dont know.

Have not hooked them up to a Norco case but for drives you need a Forward not reverse cable. I you Norco has just straight pass through SATA you will need the forward cable.

I don't know for sure either but a quick google shows here and here referring to forward cables and the RPC-4020...

Yes, I agree. It should be forward. Looking further into it, the back-plane on the Norco is simply a pass through extender. Forward cables are needed.

Think your right, so the other question is can you run 2 HighPoint RocketRAID 2680 SGL RAID Cards in the same case? think it might be cheaper then buying the PIKE card to activate the SAS headers on the motherboard?

Yes you can. You can run more than two. This mostly a limit of the motherboard.

That looks like the cable I have on my 3ware card.

The detailed description identifies it as a forward breakout cable so you should be good to go.
