On all my VM's under Settings>Display>Video>Extended Features.....I only have the ability to check the "enable 3D Acceleration". The "enable 2D video Acceleration" option is unchecked and greyed out.

Does anyone know how to fix this or if this normal?

I have tried allocating more video memory to the VM, and just recently updated my video card drivers (Nvidia GeForce GT 240). It seems weird to me that 3D acceleration is possible but not 2D.

    Thanks,

if 3d is enabled then 2d is enable as well, which is why its grayed out.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Ah ok. I thought that might be the case, but i'm glad it's confirmed. Thanks for taking the time to clarify that for me. :) Now if I could just figure out how to get guest-addin's installed for windows8 (posted separately) for that problem.

    Thanks again!

I am a VM noob, I tried Virtualbox first on my win2012E box because it seemed easier but I could never get the win7 guest to see the host dvd-rw and the mouse was horrible.

I just switched to VMware and I have to say it is much smoother and I got the dvd-rw to be seen and used in the guest.

Sorry, nothing to do with your video, just throwing that out there. If virtualbox gives ya to much trouble, might give one of the others a shot.

    Goodluck

Is it possible to dedicate a second NIC to VMWare in WSE12? EDIT: I may try this http://kb.vmware.com...ernalId=1020359
