I doing project studies with cisco nexus 1000v and was wondering if there was someone on these forums with experience on the system.

I am having problems getting the VSM and VEM modules to communicate with each other.

Well in case someone might be interested, I got the darn thing working. Had to demolish my whole vCenter, remove the installed VEM module and start from scratch. Then I put the whole thing back together with the exception of not creating a HA group between the esxi hosts. During the whole process I monitored the switches (Cisco 3560) mac address table output to verify the presence of the correct amount of mac clients on both trunk links.

When I finally got the VEM installed the VSM instantly noticed the VEM present. So could say that a little bit of voodoo is included in the Nexus 1000v setup. Now the only thing left is to figure something to do with it. :D

So is it time for you to order another can of 'magic smoke'? :D

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Don't know, but tomorrow I'll keep on battling with it hoping to get something intelligent done with it.

For sure. It'll only cost 10x more than generic magic smoke and require 2 hours of IOS commands to implement ;)
