John, I tried to contact Archound a while back also and never heard from them. To me, that makes it a dead product.

ikon, not sure what is going on there as I am able to move documents by just dragging them without the Explorer box being checked.

Thanks GA. Hmmm, maybe have to contact them.

Just as a followup, here's a couple of screencaps of 2 of the issues.

Posted Image

In this one, I tried to delete a folder after accidentally creating it as a sub-folder instead of a top level folder. Notice how the Delete option is greyed out. I was also unable to drag the sub-folder to be a top level one.

Posted Image

In this one I was trying to drag the first file in the top pane to the bottom pane. Instead, it just tried to select more items. All I got was a rubber banding selection rectangle.

I'm going to start all over with FileCenter. I just uninstalled it and I'm going to try again, very slowly. It seems obvious this is not a 'install it and go' app.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Well, the reinstall seems to have fixed these 2 problems. Not sure what happened, but 'take 2' is starting off much better :)

BTW GA, I keep meaning to ask you what scanner you use. I have 30 days to return my ScanSnap.

Glad you figured that part out. I am just seeing the post was about to put up my screen shots showing working, although not sure what good that would do. There is a function to "promote" a folder to a top level folder. When you right click on the folder and then chose "Other Folder Task", one of the options is to promote to a top level folder. I think you could also just go in Explorer and move it yourself.

I have the Epson GT-S50. To be honest, I am not completely happy with it. Speed is great, but I don't have it working the way I want just yet.

I'm not all that pleased with the ScanSnap. I should have researched more first. When I went to their blog/site I found out that they use the 'categorize the hell out of everything and make tons of folders to hold all the categories' approach. I find this approach very old-fashioned. It doesn't at all take advantage of modern digital processes and, in particular, index and search capabilities. They actually rely on Adobe's PDF search and Win7's system search. A lot of others seem to do this too. I find that just plain weird.

FileCenter seems to do a better job of it. I only wish Fujitsu made TWAIN drives for the ScanSnap. I may see if I can return it.

Except, as GA, diehard, and I all noted, the lights seem to have been turned off at archound. That's why I'm looking at FileCenter.

GA, I'm thinking of returning the Fujitsu ScanSnap and getting the Epson WorkForce Pro GT-S50. I was wondering what it is about the Epson that your don't like.

FWIW, I finally got my WHSv1 version of DA2010 reset, since I changed hardware. I ended up contacting the president directly at glenn.hansen@goseven.com

Did you ask him what's happening with DA and/or get the impression they're still working on/supporting it actively?

I sent them an e-mail also. I had a guy I was working with on several issues. They even created a special version to gather more data and test the issues I was having. The guy was great, until all of a sudden all communication stopped. That was over a year ago. I just e-mail him and support again, doubt they will respond as I think they have closed up shop.

I sent them an email yesterday or the day before too. If they don't respond they there's no way I'll go with DA Document Manager. Choosing and efiling system is too important to pick one that may not be there when you want it.
