I like that it would fit nice in my rack, just need to add a 4x Intel card in it and away i go

found this comment in the feedback:

pFsense (FreeBSD) found both network cards and was able to utilize them at 1GBit, even though this is going to be a firewall box, connected to a cable internet connection, its always good to know the bottleneck will not be the network cards

Server:

4U Norco case with Windows Server 2012 on Dual Xeon 5620's, Supermicro X8DTH-6F with IPMI , LSI Raid 9260-4i linked to Chenbro 24 port 6Gb expander for 24 drives including Cachecade 2.0/Fastpath, 48GB's ECC Registered PNY Ram, 10 Intel Teamed  Nics,  Raids: 4 Pair / 8 Drive Raid 10 with a global hot spare then 2 - 4 Drive Raid 5's (all using the the 4 x 64GB SSD Drives in Raid 1 with LSI CacheCade 2.0 for a total of 256 GB Cache) all on 6GB using SAS connectors in Norco 15U rack plus APC 1500 UPS, PFSENSE Router in 1U case with SSD, 24 port NETGEAR GS724T-300NAS switch,

Your link doesn't work for me; just took me to a generic Bing page. Typing in open frame steel rack gave me 5 results though.

If you don't mind my asking, what is a USB internal wireless N card? It seems like a contradiction in terms in that one usually thinks of USB as being for external devices.

Interesting style. I'm more used to the 2-column style, except without the wheels: http://www.tigerdire..._bCjCVqHCjCdwwp

As far as small customizable routers go has anyone tried the PC Engine Stuff?

I just got a PC Engine Alix 2d3

Its a super small x86 board, with everything on-board already, with the exception of wireless, but you can add that via the MINI-PCI slot, I installed a Atheros Mini PCI card that is b/g and it works great.

I am currently running DD-WRT Pro/Commercial on it, and plan on upgrading thw Wireless card to the Ubiquiti Networks SR71-12 (which I already bought, just waiting on the DD-WRT Drivers.

You can run a list of other this on it also, but I DD-WRT and it flat out flies this way.

Do a search for it on Google shopping there are a bunch of places that carry it for about the same price.

well the case arrived , very nice. http://homeserversho...e/45-wp-000106/

It came with a 200 watt psu with fan so i chose to unplug it and put in a mini ITX 150 watt no fan psu then loaded pfsense on a 4gb usb. walla it loaded great even found the onboard nics. ill use the pcie riser to add more nics later. now i need to spend a little time reading mikes super router article as well as pfsense for setting it up.
