Hi Dave.

Saw your notice about image gallery and hoping to solicit some donations. I would like to donate, but what I would like to do is the same thing I do for TWiT; donate $2/mo, every month. I think this is a great option for sites likes this. Any chance you could set up recurring donations?

BTW, I think hosting images locally is a great idea.

Dave has set things up so we can make monthly donations, via PayPal. If you value HSS and the forums, why not make a small commitment. Heck, even $2 a month can make a difference. If 500 people do it, that's almost $1,000 to help Dave (help all of us really) defray the costs of running the site.

Not much activity in this thread. Dave won't say it, so I will: let's get behind HSS guys and provide a little support. Why not go to the donate page and sign up for a $2 per month donation? It really isn't much and could make a big difference. Plus, get your status changed to donating member B)

After you sign up, come back and post that you did it.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

Totally agree. And a great 'atmosphere' as well.

Ahhhemm! I don't see were you came back and indicated you made the donation. ;)

And before you ask, while I havent' donated the monthly plan as indicated, I did donate enough earlier this year to cover my usage for a long, long time when you equate it at $2/month. B)

I took it as given that I was the first one to do it :D

I know you're yanking my chain, and that's cool, but in all seriousness, I was of course only referring to those who hadn't yet made a contribution. Before asking Dave to set it up, I did a check and found that there are (were) only about 20 donating members (I do recall seeing your name as one of them).

I thought maybe an subscription plan would make it easier for others to donate and would give Dave a more predictable cash flow. That said, I'm sure there are people who simply cannot afford to donate, even at $2/month. I intend no criticism of them in any way, nor do I want to discourage them from participating. I'm simply appealing to others like me who can contribute but find a smaller, regular donation more affordable and more convenient.

If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you.

I am glad you understood I was just yanking your chain and I agree it is a great thing to do the monthly contribution as it is easier.

PS I was at a conference last week with a guy from Ontario (I believe) and he used the phrase, "you can only kick a cat once". Is this a well known canadian phrase.

If we can't have fun, what's the point

I've never heard it before. Besides, who says you can't kick a cat more than once? Not that I recommend it, just sayin'.... ;)

The point was the cat would not come back after you kicked it. Thought it was an interesting saying though.

Exactly. I kick my cats and they keep coming back. I can't get rid of them. :)
