Hi everyone,

I have finally been able to reproduce a bug that a couple people have mentioned to me (email settings disappearing). I haven't found the cause yet but I'm looking into it. It might be connected to adding or modifying a download job.

I also have a couple of enhancements in mind, but I also wanted to ask if anyone had any enhancement requests. I'm not going to promise anything, but feel free to ask.

One feature that I'm researching is a file transfer service. To provide a client app that talks to POCA on the home server and transfer selected podcasts from the server to a specified folder on the client computer with out having to navigate to the server shares. There is a possibly of an Android client app using wifi over the home network, but just starting to learn how to code for that.
And before anyone asks, I'm not planning on an iPhone app. Yes, I'm an apple hater.

Bill,

a few simple requests (I hope)

Can you add a version number some where on the gui - or is beta 1 the latest version maybe?
Can you add the option to not download podcasts from before the installation date?
Is there a log file anywhere?

thanks for all the hard work!

- 'beta 1' is the version.

- It can be added, but it could be hit or miss. There isn't a true 'standard' for RSS Feeds so if a feed provider formats the date different than the majority it could cause variation in how the app reacts or cause out right errors and failures. There could also be cases were another user would want to download everything available. Who's needs do I put first? The mass download will only happen the first time a new feed is added with the download all setting. I wouldn't suggest using the download all if a podcast only comes out once a day or less frequently.

- The app logs major failures and successful downloads to the Windows event log. If you want to have more logging create a text file in the directory where Poca is installed named "debug.dat". In side the text file, on the first line type the location where you want the logs to be written. exp: 'C:\logging\poca'. On the second line in the file type ether a '1' or a '2'. 1 enables trace logging and 2 enables trace and execution logging. I generally enter 2. You will need to stop the service and make sure that it leaves memory in the task manager (it may take a while if it is processing a feed) and then restart it for the dat file to be picked up; or just reboot the server.

But according to Jobs, the apple products are perfect so you shouldn't even need to install an app.
