I've received a few requests about my monitors and desk setup so I thought rather than just email them out I would share with everyone. Feel free to post up your PC desk setups here!

This is mission control for me. Project Black n Blue is up on the shelf along with my receiver. Project One (VM Server) is in the foreground, along with my laptop work area. Under the desk is the subwoofer, Driving Wheel/Pedals, and storage ottomans.

This is how it looks while in play mode ;)

You probable don't want a picture of me sitting on the couch with a laptop. Don't have a desktop setup at home. My wife does, though.

Oh come on, if it's anything like the lawn mowing picture we are all curious.

Dave wanted me to be on the show a little while back. I did not have anything so I figured if I was spending the money I would get something of higher quality. Now I just need my ISP to fix my bandwidth issue and I will be able to participate when asked.

Nice setup and that Yeti is great mic. Now we have to get you to use it and hit one of these podcasts. I would also suggest a visit to the local Radio Shack (thanks to Dave for the idea) and get one of those foam balls to cover the mic. They come in two sizes and the large one fits the yeti perfectly as that is what I have. Enjoy the world of dual monitors. BTW, I noticed that you monitors are both on HSS. Dave will be proud.

You guys (especially Michael) must be taking pictures right after the maid show up. As soon as I find a maid, I will take some shots and post them. Right now there is not much left of my floor as I have effectively three new computers worth of parts all over the place.

Main Server - WHS 2011, Core I5-2500, 12T RAID 5 (5x3T) + 2T of Mirror + 2T of backup
Second Server - 2008R2, Core I5-2500, 12T RAID 5
Main Systems - Core I7-2600k, 16 Gigs DDR3-1600, 180 Gig Intel 330 SSD Max IOPS 240 Gig Vertex 3, 2T Sata 3 for local Backup
Other systems - Core I7-2600, Core I3-530's, Core I5-2500, Core I7-920, Core I3-2100, and G620 (see System List)

OK, did a little clean up. Here is a picture of where I spend most of my time. The funky fold out table is what I use to prop up the computer I am working at the time. Right now it happens to be a small/mid form factor WHS V1 which will be come my main WHS as I move all the media off V1 onto Vail/Server 2008 with most likely a RAID configuration of some sorts which I will decide on when we find out from MS what there are going to offer in Vail. I plan on leaving critical data, backups, and photos on V1 and using V2 for media streaming. All four computers on the left (one is the closet to the left and not visible) are tied to a KVM switch which is connected to the 24" monitor on the left. The dual 24's are tied to my main computer on the right. My two production servers are located in a spare room as I could not fit any more in this room.

If you want an IPS monitor Either the Dell U2410 or the HP ZR24w both have great color, work in portrait, and are 1920x1200 16:10 ratios. Personally I prefer the Dell obviously. If you're just looking for a cheap 23" 1080 TN panel. The Dell Studio series will be fine.

So why 1920 x 1200 instead of 1920 x 1080 and should i go for LED or other? With the extra viewing do you get distortion?

And what about CD. 300 or less?

The Dells that no-control is using are great and you can not go wrong with Samsung. I have also used Acers at work and they are very good for the money. Personally I have two Samsung and one Asus and I do not think I will be buying anymore Asus monitors. Just my two cents.

I'm looking at an Asus 1080p 24" on my work desk. I love the thing. At home I have a Dell 22" 1080p and that thing is great too. Personally, for most uses I wouldn't pay any extra for LED. That's just me though.

OK well might as well show my setup also, my home work area is in a Florida Sun Room approx 14 x 20' windows on three sides (that reminds me gotta tint those before summer!). My desk and my girlfriends desk are at the far end, the desk are back to back (if you look at the second picture you can see the back of her PC)

My workstation in itself is nothing all that fancy, but from it I can control, the following located in two other racks in the room:

WHS (running WHS1)
WHS (running Vail)
1U XP Pro box for when I need to test something on XP
1U FreeNAS box, mainly used for Torrents

the above units are all in a small rack that has my Color Laser on top, as well as a Belkin 8-port rack mount KVM.

I can also control my Cisco Lab Rack, which has a Lantronix Console Server installed in it. Also in the Cisco Lab rack is my Cobalt Web server and the rack mount battery backup to make sure that it does not go down.

Yes, I am hosting my own web page, its really nothing at the moment, but I am learning and its a pretty cool hobby. If you want to see the web page (remember I said its nothing so far) its: c0op3r.com There is a link that shows the Cisco Lab rack there, I am in the process of making some final upgrades to it, and then I will start on the web page a little more regularly.

Oh and everything is battery backed up! Very important, with the great power we get here, it does not go out, but we see a lot of Brown Outs! (aka sags).

What's the 'brother' device that you've got there? Is that an index card printer? (I ask because I've been considering getting one of those... )
