Fan Control for small fan

I have a small case with a 60mm fan in it. The fan is plugged into the Gigabyte motherboard, but I have not control over the speed. It is spinning at full speen, and I would like it to spin at 30% speed. it is currently too loud...

The Motherboard has auto fan control for the CPU, but nothing for the case. What is the simpliest/cheapest way to slow it down...

Multiple options

I prefer actual controllers but have used resistors. Software never really worked for me.

Consider just replacing the fan. I've had good luck with Scythe products as they come in all kinds of sizes and CFM/db combinations. I have an ITX case that sounds similar to yours. I replaced the case fan with this Scythe unit and have been very happy...

Rewire for 5 volts:

Yellow to black gives 12 volts, red to black gives 5 volts.

See 4 pin peripheral power cable

Make sure that the fan will spin up at 5 volts.
