If you are a deal shopper you have no doubt seen that the prices keep falling on the HP MediaSmart Server. The EX470 is down to $299 at retail stores. HomeServerHacks.com alerted me to this deal.
You had better hurry though. I know the deal at OfficeMax is good until 11/29 but I’m afraid that stock will not last until then. This deal is frontpage on SlickDeals.net today and FatWallet has a discussion about it as well.
Check stock at Officemax.com by adding the EX470 to your cart and entering your Zip Code. This should also allow you to check shipping charges. If you have a Staples in your area you can ask them to Price Match this deal.

File this under "the too good to be true dept". I tried to buy one of these today and could not buy it on the web so I went to the OfficeMax down the street. They spent 30 minutes on the phone to OrderMax trying to see if it really exsisted… it did not.

I'm sorry you didn't get one. The deal did exist because I bought one. Let me tell you about service. I ordered it on the 24th and it was delivered on the 25th. Free shipping and no taxes. Of course I used my Tax ID I have on file with them and will pay use tax later. $299.
When these deals hit deal sites like slickdeals and fatwallet you have to act quick. That's why I put the alert out there.

Be somewhat cautious about Office Max… I purchased one from OfficeMax at 12:23AM on Sunday, 11/23. Since I live in Phoenix which has a local distribution center I figured I'd see mine quickly. So far I haven't!
I called OfficeMax customer support on Tuesday morning. They said it got pulled from the warehouse and should be delivered today. It wasn't! I called them Tuesday night and spoke with a different customer service rep. She indicated that it was pulled at the warehouse on Tuesday but would be delivered on Wednesday. It wasn't!
So either I've had bad luck with finding a competent Office Max customer service rep or their Phoenix warehouse is unreliable or Office Max in general doesn't have a good ordering/shipping/tracking system. In any event I'm calling them again today and we'll see if it's delivered on Friday.
