Hello all, just chiming in to defend Playon. I've been using it for 2 years without any problems. I have it start when the computer boot and the idle is typically 0% to 6% of CPU resources. I originally bought Playon lifetime version for Netflix use on an Xbox without a gold subscription but I mostly use it to stream Netflix and Hulu to the web browser on my phone (Palm Pre+) and a HP TouchPad. Both of these mobile devices support the Flash so Playon seems to be a stable method to receive Netflix, which doesn't provide an app, and Hulu free version which blocks playback on devices that have a mobile browser ID. Any way, it's just my 2 cents. Great show as usual, I've been listening since episode 11. So, You've gotten me to try out OTA digital broadcast recording with WMC and I've migrated to using WMC with a Hauppauge cableCard tuner. Thanks for that, it's a lot of fun except for buying the extra hard drives. My computer is getting long in the tooth so I don't know why Playon runs so well, it's a MSI main-board, Athlon x2 5400, 8g ddr2 ram with a 10% buss overclock, and a Radeon 6570.
On the down side Playon won't stream WTV files which is a bit of a bummer since most of my new content is from the WMC DVR. Ok, I'm done, thanks for the show.
Thanks Mark for the comments and I am glad you are having a better experience than I did. You made an excellent point about Netflix and Hulu as that is a different use case. Thanks for pointing that out as I mainly tested with local files. Thanks for listening to the show and keep putting in your 2 cents.
