Antivirus for Windows Home Server New Version of WHSClamAV released
A new version of WHSClamAV has been released by Al West.
Version 0.1.7 of WHSClamAV release on April 12th, 2010, will use the newer build of ClamWin which provides better security for the scanning of Windows System Files.
This significant release brings exciting new features to ClamAV scanning engine and ClamWin:
- Bytecode detection signatures allow more complex patterns and better detection
- Heuristics improvements
- Digital Signature verification prevents false positive detection for Windows system files
- Other scanning enhancements
Also fixed the auto update bug I had and made a few changes to catch any edge cases where parts of WHSClamAV were installed without others.
Guide to installation is to first remove ClamWin using the settings tab of WHSClamAV, then delete the file. Then remove the WHSClamAV Add-in, download the new Add-In, Install the new version of WHSClamAV. Then back in the ClamWin settings tab select download (this will now download the newer 0.96 version of ClamWin – only released yesterday also) and once downloaded hit install. Note there is a new dialog box warning of the potential block of the console until download is complete.
