Seagate 750Gb for $110 Free Shipping but Hurry!

May 22nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Home Server Storage, Windows Home Server

NewEgg.com
I don’t know about you but I like deals! I follow a few deal sites every now and then and ran across this one.

Seagate 750GB Serial ATA/300 16MB Buffer ST3750640AS-RK - Retail Hard Drive Kit

Shipping from Fry’s is free but looks like the deal won’t last long. I don’t own one so I don’t know it’s performance.

NewEgg.com has the WD 640 that I know is fast! It’s an OEM drive and will show up in typical Newegg style (bubblewrap). I’ve never had a bad drive from Newegg though!

If you like the deals let me know. I guess if you don’t like ‘em you can yell at me. I try to keep them related to the subject as much as possible.

Inaugural Podcast Follow up

May 12th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Windows Home Server

A big thanks goes out to all that have downloaded and subscribed to the feeds. Thank you very much. I have received positive e-mail about show 1 so I look forward to # 2.
Speaking of future shows…if you have a review or site you would like to see on a future podcast please get in touch with me. E-mail and participation will drive the show forward so send in those e-mails. Sound off and voice your opinion as well.

Changes soon

The website should be going through a makeover soon. This Wordpress theme is only out here in order to get the podcast out. I wanted to put the effort into the show and work on the back end items last. I have some domain issues to sort out as well.
I like the new look on the WGS site. Click over to take a look. I was looking at those same themes for my WP based blog. Very nice touch.

That’s it. Nothing spectacular to report. Check the Blog Roll sites on the right side for latest WHS news. There is new talk on PP1. If you have questions or comments on news items email me and I’ll get them on the podcast.

Thanks everybody.

Whole House Music Distribution via Nuvo and Windows Home Server “CE Pro Article “

May 3rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Windows Home Server

Nuvo and S1Digital showcased a multiroom audio solution at EHX Spring 2008 that uses Windows Home Server as it’s back end data storage. What is interesting is that the S1Digital WHS uses a sound card to output the streams. I knew that S1Digital had an upcoming WHS but don’t recall any mention of this configuration.

The CE Pro article can be found here.

There is a related slideshow showing all the goods.

Graphics Set for The Home Server Show

May 1st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in wordpress

The Home Server Show is putting word out to all you graphic and Photoshop gurus. Admittedly, I am terrible at making any sort of graphic to support a website. I can take a photo and doctor it up a bit but that’s all. Create anything original? Not happening. So, I put it to the community. Anyone care to donate some time to the cause?
The show could use a standard theme. A banner, a 300×300 pixel box, a 144×144 pixel box, and an icon for the web browser(favicon.ico). I do have some photos of the MediaSmart Server if that would help. Mostly close-up shots of the bottom front panel. I was hoping to incorporate that into the theme. Send your ideas to homeserver The mail domain is myconnexx.com.
